Ergonomic Risk Factors and Controls Presentation

Dan Mahoney, CIH, CSP was the guest speaker at Delaware Safety Council's September, 2006 meeting.  Back injuries and repetitive trauma disorders in the workplace have a substantial impact upon employee productivity, medical costs, and workers' compensation premiums in addition to the impact upon the injured employee.  The presentation identified work task specific factors that increase the risk of back injury and repetitive trauma.  Examples of practical solutions were provided to assist employers in applying these ergonomic principles to the job tasks in their workplace.  The goal of the session was to enable employers to identify and reduce the ergonomic stressors over which they have control in their workplace.
